Project methodology

The courses will be developed jointly following the competence based approach: the needs of the main target group (engineers) will be examined using a survey and the results which will be translated into competences and learning outcomes. Programme and courses will be developed using already proven instruments and forms and the peer review system in order to assure the highest quality standard.

The project will start with the first project transnational meeting in Skopje, in the first month of the project, the main tasks will be:

- Updating the rules for maintaining the partnership. Signing agreements between the coordinator and partners.

- Establishing and developing the project infrastructure and communication channels between all partners.

Quality management will be a continuous activity during the whole project. In the first years of the project, project partners will develop and set up quality control mechanisms, and develop quality manual implementing guidelines for quality assurance of learning material development and course delivery. In the second year of the project, evaluation plan will be developed in order to measure trainers and adult learners progress and satisfaction on realized courses.

Project phases in the first year of the year of the project involve development activities. More specifically:

The first development phase - Analysis and benchmarking, which will last 3 months, will aim to define engineering manager's necessary skills and competence. Activities in this phase are 1. Survey the needs, challenges, and problems engineering managers have; 2. Benchmarking - comparing management and leadership skills and standards; 3. Comparative analysis of the good practices and professional development courses for engineering management and leadership skills in Europe. Leading organisation in this phase is IECE.

The survey results and analysis reports will be presented on multiplier event that will take place in Skopje, during the 5th month of the project.

The second development phase - Curriculum development, which will last 3 months, will involve the following activities: 1. Defining learning outcomes of the professional development courses for engineering management and leadership skills; 2. Developing competency-based professional development courses; 3. Preparation for certification process; 4. Workshop-short term joint staff training event in Graz, covering the topic: Efficient ways to develop curriculum for adult education. Leading organization in this phase is WUS.

The third development phase - Development of learning materials, which will last 3 months, will aim to develop learning materials for each of the professional development courses for engineering management and leadership skills. During this phase a workshop-short term joint staff training event, will be organized in Skopje, focusing on New methodology and innovative ways of training adult learners. Leading organization in this phase is BIT.

The fourth development phase - Development of ICT learning environment, which will last 3 months, will focus on 1. Developing learning management system; 2. Workshop-short term joint staff training event on Educational methodology and ICT, which will take place in BiaƂystok, Poland. Leading organization in this phase is Perfect Project.

Another workshop will be organized, covering the topic on Innovative and learner-centered approaches in adult education. The training event will take place in Graz, Austria.

As a result of these activities a handbook for trainers and adult learners will be developed and published, as well as ICT learning environment. There will be a multiplier event in Skopje to promote the results of the development activities.

The second transnational project meeting will happen in Graz, after finishing the development activities and will produce a report on progress and accomplished activities and results.

In the dissemination phase, the aim will be to 1. Develop and publish promotional materials for the courses for engineering management and leadership skills; 2. To advertise and promote the developed courses, recruit and select adult learners. Leading organization in this phase is CEIM.

In the implementation phase, which will last 9 months, the courses will be implemented on a selected pilot group of engineering managers, providing on-line development courses and in classroom trainings. After the completion of the courses, there will be evaluation of the courses, the curriculum and courses materials, as well as an evaluation of the progress and satisfaction of the engineering managers will be conducted. Leading organization in this phase is IECE.

As part of the dissemination activities two multiplier events will be organized, one national and one international, where the results and evaluation reports will be presented.

The last project transnational meeting will take place in Skopje at the end of the project to summarize the project activities and results.
